NOTICE: Sewer main flushing in Picton Nov. 13-23

The County’s wastewater department will be conducting sewer main flushing in Picton starting Monday, Nov. 13 and continuing until Thursday, Nov. 23.

• For safety and traffic considerations, flushing will take place at night between the hours of 7 pm and 5 am.

• County staff will be flushing the main streets of town, including the entire length of Picton Main Street from Cold Storage Road in the west, through to H.J. McFarland Memorial Home in the east, along with the main side streets, Talbot Street, York Street, Union Street, Bridge Street, King Street, Lake Street, East Mary Street (“one-way Mary Street”), and Johnson Street (County Road 5).

• Elevated noise levels will be present with the large equipment on site and visibility will be limited. Minor traffic delays may affect some motorists. Motorists are urged to avoid the area if at all possible.

• Home and business owners are asked to keep toilet seat lids down as a precaution, especially in basements and on the first floor. Splashing may occur as sewer mains are cleaned with high pressure equipment.

• The County appreciates your co-operation as we complete this necessary work to the collection system.
