NOTICE: Residents urged to limit travel during storm

The County of Prince Edward is urging residents to limit their travel this weekend due to a winter storm in the area.

• Extended periods of ice pellets, freezing rain, and strong winds may cause some roads to become blocked by downed trees or utility wires. Downed utility lines can be a hazard to you and your family. Make sure to stay at least 10 metres (33 feet) away from downed lines at all costs. If they pose an immediate risk, call 911. Next, call Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

• If you must be on the roads this weekend, the municipality encourages motorists to drive with caution.

• If the storm continues for an extended period, some roads with low volume of traffic may have reduced levels of service while the municipality focuses on roads with a higher volume of traffic.

• Mild temperatures and accumulation of ice pellets or snow may make some gravel roads too soft to maintain.

• For urgent after-hours road emergencies in The County, please call 613.476.6505.

Please note: The County of Prince Edward provides this information as a service to the general public. While we do our best to provide accurate information, construction projects and associated service disruptions are subject to change based on weather, road, traffic, and other uncontrollable conditions.
