NOTICE: Flood debris bins in place

The municipality has placed flood debris bins in several locations in the County to aid with clean-up efforts.

The bins are intended for flood debris only. Property owners should only drop off items that have washed up on their shoreline, such as driftwood, brush, broken docks, rafts, rope, seaweed, and lake plants.

The flood debris bins are located at these locations:

• Consecon – New Fire Hall (14 County Road 29)
• End of Hiscock Shores Road
• Rossmore – Ridley Street near boat ramp and park
• End of Sunrise Drive
• Prinyer's Cove Park
• Northport – Northport Centennial Park

As water levels recede, the municipality will place additional waste bins to accommodate residents dropping off used sandbags.

Boat launch update

The boat launch at Prinyer’s Cove (off County Road 7 at Prinyer’s Cove) is temporarily closed due to the high water levels.

The Rossmore boat launch (Ridley Street North near the Norris Whitney Bridge) has re-opened.

Flood warning still in effect

A flood warning is still in effect for Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte.

The municipality is offering sand and sandbags at no cost to residents whose primary residence is at risk of flooding. Sandbags are not intended to protect shorelines or accessory buildings. The municipality asks that residents be respectful of their neighbours when picking up supplies and only sandbag if their home is at risk of flooding.

The sandbags are self-serve, and residents must bring their own shovels to fill bags. Residents must fill out the number of sandbags they have picked up and the civic address where they will be used.

Visit the County’s flood watch webpage for a complete list of sand and sandbag locations. That page also details the current boat launches closures and includes information related to wells and septic systems during floods.
