NOTICE: Emergency construction on Wellington Main Street

The Water and Wastewater Department will be working to conduct emergency repairs as a result of a water leak on Wellington Main Street, at the intersection of Wharf Street in Wellington.

Emergency repairs will begin immediately today, Wednesday, Feb. 14, with an expected completion time of 5 pm.

Wellington Main Street will be reduced to one lane through the intersection for the duration of the repair. Motorists are asked to avoid the construction area if possible.

Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the repair.

These repairs are not expected to impact water quality; however, residents living in the area may experience a partial or complete loss of pressure and/or coloured water while construction is taking place. The water remains safe to drink throughout the duration of construction.

To address pressure loss and the potential of coloured water, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance is complete and regular water service is restored.
