New association to manage Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park

Picton, ON – The County of Prince Edward is welcoming the establishment of the new Cherry Valley Park Association as the managing organization for the much-loved Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park.

The park – located on the banks of East Lake in Cherry Valley – has been owned and cared for by the Cherry Valley Lions Club for many years. This responsibility has been transferred to the newly minted Cherry Valley Park Association, a not-for-profit corporation whose directors include Brad Brummell, Annette Brummell, Dave Francis, and Dave McClennon.

“I am pleased that this new association will continue to operate the property as a park and free public boat launch,” Mayor Robert Quaiff says. “The Cherry Valley Lions Club provided a valuable and much-appreciated service to our community by maintaining the park for more than 30 years, and I couldn`t be happier to see this association created to continue that tradition.”

Park amenities and maintenance will not change with the transfer of management to the Cherry Valley Park Association. Residents and visitors alike will still be welcome to enjoy the beautiful greenspace, and the boat launch will remain free for interested users.

“We recognized that the park was too important to our community to see it fall into disrepair or sold off to a private owner,” says Mr. Brummell, Secretary of the Cherry Valley Park Association. “Under this new association, the park will receive the same quality of care and respect residents and tourists have come to expect over the past several decades.”

The Cherry Valley Lions Memorial Park remains an excellent location to host events such as family reunions or community gatherings. The Cherry Valley Park Association will also continue to maintain and rent picnic tables, a service previously offered by the Cherry Valley Lions Club.

To reserve space in the park or to rent the picnic tables, contact Mr. Brummel at 613.476.7971 or email cherryvalleyparkassociation@xplornet.com.
