Picton Main Street Construction Project
Construction on Picton Main Street began in April, 2016 and the roadway was officially re-opened to traffic in late November, 2016. The watermain had been installed over sixty years prior, making the project of vital importance in ensuring that Main Street residents and businesses had access to safe and reliable water and wastewater services. In addition to replacing aged infrastructure, the project saw the installation of revitalized sidewalks and roadways, auxiliary services such as fibre network cables, new street lights, and landscaping.
The project, which was awarded to Taggart Construction Limited in November 2015 for the contracted amount of $4,406,968, was partially funded by the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). The remainder of the costs were funded by the municipality.
Some decorative work remains to be completed as part of the project. Crews will return to Picton Main Street in Spring 2017 to complete this work. Residents will be notified about any disruptions that this may cause.
